Evans and co-driver Scott Martin were unhurt but have been forced to retire from the event.
Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville holds a 45.7s lead over team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen ahead of the final day after his main rivals, Ott Tanak and Sebastien Ogier, encountered setbacks.
Citroen’s Ogier is fourth having hit a stone gateway and incurred power steering damage, while Toyota Gazoo’s Tanak is ninth after alternator problems.
